Village Rhythms now offers American and European businesses a spirited new motivational training program, "Building Unity and Enhancing Creativity," which can stand alone or integrate seamlessly with management training or corporate retreats. By combining the thrilling, stress-releasing experience of tribal drumming and dancing with practical interpersonal skills development, founder Onye Onyemaechi provides a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience.

Team spirit and feelings of well-being develop spontaneously during this exuberant, participatory program. As participants come to feel better about themselves and the group, they become more confident and comfortable working with others toward common goals. The lessons they learn about group dynamics, decision-making and creative problem solving will impact them long after the event is over.

"Building Unity" was designed to fill a gap left by modern education, which only pumps students with facts and training from the outside in. Although graduates are theoretically prepared for their fields, few leave school with the tools necessary to develop their own native abilities and group collaboration skills. This program helps managers solve the problems that grow out of that gap.

What the building unity program offers:
• Traditional wisdom about how organizations function.
• Experience in building team spirit and trust; as it unites "villagers" of the work place.
• Increased concentration, creativity and imaginative problem-solving.
• Development of intuition, our innate wisdom that is greater than data and reason.
• The experience of joy and satisfaction in the workplace.
• The development of interpersonal communication skills.
• Relief from emotional, mental, and physical stress.

How does it work?
In traditional African garb, using a variety of drums and other percussion instruments, Onye demonstrates and teaches attendees simple, powerful rhythm patterns. As the drumming builds, people relax, and a fun, vibrant, positive energy fills the room. Those who wish to dance are taught rhythmic, expressive movements that require mutual awareness and cooperation.
Periods of activity are alternated with stories of village life, which directly relate to improving interaction in the work group. Onye discusses the principles of cooperation, respect and responsibility which traditional societies rely upon for survival and advancement. Interactive exercises bring practical applications of these principles to attendees’ skill sets. Onye gives individual attention but no one is ever “put on the spot” or placed in an embarrassing situation. His sincerity and positive attitude invite participants to share in his exuberance and deep wisdom.
